A Day at Jenkins Living
Center
Be it the nursing
department, housekeeping, activities, dietary or
maintenance, the Jenkins Living Center staff strives to
provide the best care for your loved one. Caring,
dedicated employees are found in every department.
-
Nursing:
Nursing is by far the largest segment of the
operation at Jenkins Living Center. Supervised by
the Director of Nursing, Shawn Gilman, the nursing
department strives to care for the physical,
emotional, spiritual and mental needs of each
resident in a warm and caring home-like environment.
-
Therapy Department
Achieving one's highest potential is important in
all age groups including seniors. To meet this
objective, JLC provides a team of therapists that
is skilled in assisting residents and outpatients of
all ages to maximize their functional independence.
Therapists tailor their programs to achieve the best
results in regards to function and safety.
-
Activities:
The Activity Department plans activities to meet the
interests and needs of the residents. Many of our
activities are based on things that are familiar to
the residents and things they have enjoyed in the
past. There is a monthly activity plan and family
and residents are encouraged to be aware of upcoming
activities and take part.
-
Dietary:
Jenkins Living Center employs a Registered
Dietitian. Therapeutic diets are prepared according
to physician's prescribed orders. Meals are served
in the dining room and a morning, afternoon and
evening nutrition cart is brought to the floors.
-
Administration:
The Administration Department of Jenkins Living
Center is committed to ensuring that residents in
the facility receive the best quality health care
products and services available during their stay.
Although residents and family members are encouraged
to address concerns directly with staff, the
Administrator of this facility, Loren Diekman, and
Medical Director Dr. Aaron Shives, always welcome
your comments and suggestions concerning resident
care.
-
Religious Life
Jenkins Living Center is concerned for the whole
person and seeks to care for each resident's
physical, mental, and spiritual welfare. For this
purpose a chaplain, Rev. Tsukamoto, is employed to
aide residents and staff. His mission is to assist,
and not to replace, the priest or pastor of the
resident. Residents and their families are
encouraged to contact him for any assistance.
-
Maintenance:
The Jenkins incorporation consists of the skilled
nursing facility, Cedar View Assisted Living, 200
Maple Place and Town View Apartments. The Jenkins
maintenance team of seven people - supervised by
Maintenance Director Wayne Deelstra - is charged
daily with maintaining the facilities systems.
